The six Houston offices of Heritage Texas Properties recently gathered items to be sent in care packages to U.S. soldiers in Iraq.

The collection was done as the company's Christmas project and in coordination with Sing For Peace, an organization that assists in sending care packages to troops overseas.

Margaret Coles, whose twin grandsons serve in the Marines, helped Heritage employees pack food, clothing, toys and toiletries into more than 100 boxes. The packages were then mailed to her grandsons' squad. She said it's like Christmas for the soldiers whenever they receive a package no matter what's inside. Notes and letters are especially treasured.

"Anyone can adopt military personnel," Coles said," and if they need to know how to do it, they can contact me."
